Star Magnolia - Sale Price: $78.50 The Star Magnolia, ‘Magnolia stellata’ is a beautiful flowering magnolia. If your yard isn’t big enough or your climate isn’t warm enough for the Southern Magnolia, choose the Star. It’s one of the smallest magnolias. The Star is a very slow-growing perennial shrub or small tree native to Japan. In early spring, it will give you an unparalleled show of star-shaped white flowers, often with a pale pink stripe running down the inner petals. From a distance, it looks like a bouquet of baby’s breath, but with 3”-4” flowers — an amazing sight. In the fall, the foliage turns an interesting yellow-bronze. The delicately-fragranced flowers can be injured by late spring frosts, so plant it in a protected area, preferably with northern exposure. The Star Magnolia prefers organic, acidic soil and full sun, and is not as susceptible to magnolia scale as other varieties. Use as a single specimen, border background or a foundation planting. Double Flowering Plum - Tree Form - Sale Price: $122.75 The Double Flowering plum, ‘Prunus triloba’ is grown in tree form. This large shrub has been trained to a head, forming at two to three feet on a single stem. A familiar sight across the northeast quadrant of the U.S in May, the Double Flowering Plum (or Rose Tree of China), puts on quite a show with its gorgeous double candy-pink flowers blanketing each branch with fat pom-poms of color. It tends toward a round shape, is a robust grower and easily rivals the annual display of Washington cherry blossoms in northern areas. From a distance, a stand of these trees looks like a pink cotton cloud; few spring-blooming trees get the reaction that this one does. The foliage is more of a grass-green than dark green, and turns to an attractive yellow-bronze color in the fall. The Double Flowering Plum can take a lot of abuse in terms of soil condition, but it does need good sun, good drainage and ample room to perform at its best. Zones 3-8.

May Day Tree - Sale Price: $107.05 The May Day Tree, Prunus padus 'European Bird Cherry', is one of the first trees to leaf out in spring. European Bird Cherry is generally described as a perennial tree or shrub and has dark-green summer foliage that turns yellow to red in fall. The white flowers are large and fragrant and appear in early May. They are borne in slender drooping clusters. It differs from other wild and garden cherries in having flowers in long cylindrical spikes. The fruit is black, about 1/3” or less, and taken by the birds. This low-branched tree is rounded to about 15-20’. May Day Tree is available in clump form.
