Viburnum - Common Snowball Bush - Sale Price: $57.05 The Common Snowball Bush, Viburnum opulus 'roseum', has been a garden favorite for centuries because it produces “balls of snow” in late spring.  The large, showy, spherical clusters of white or green-tinted white sterile blossoms that sometime turn pink.  They appear in masses on this deciduous, hardy, thicket-forming Old World shrub. Holly - Blue Prince - Sale Price: $56.45 Holly - Blue Prince, Ilex x meserveae 'Blue Prince', has shiny, deep lustrous hardy blue-green leaves that contribute to this variety's excellent form all season. Use as a pollinator for 'Blue Princess'. 'Blue Prince' and 'Blue Princess' need to be planted near each other in order to produce fruit; one 'Blue Prince' will pollinate many female hollies. Blue Prince makes a fantastic, thick hedge, growing to a maximum height of about 15', but can easily be pruned to a lower height. It needs good drainage and a rich, acid soil. Hollies are good companions for rhododendrons and azaleas, and they accept sun or partial shade. Some protection from winter winds and bright winter sun is preferred. Hollies cheer every winter landscape with their dark green leaves and bright red berries. They certainly are plants with year-round interest: blooms in the spring, berries in fall, and structure in winter. Forsythia - Arnold Dwarf - Sale Price: $64.20 Arnold Dwarf Forsythia, Forsythia 'Arnold Dwarf', is an excellent dwarf groundcover type shrub. It flowers profusely in early spring before the leaves appear. The dark green summer foliage develops a bronze-green fall color. Arnold is a smaller size forsythia that provides both late winter color in the landscape and cut branches for indoor bloom when flowers are scarce. It tolerates most soils and prefers full sun for best bloom, but will tolerate partial shade. If allowed to arch to ground, the branches will root and spread. Forsythia makes excellent erosion control, especially on slopes. To keep in its smallest form, trim to ground after bloom to encourage new growth and more flowers the next year. A moderately fast grower, this makes a desirable border shrub in the landscape. This excellent groundcover, rerooting as it spread, matures at a height of 3' with a mature spread of 4-6'. Holly - Carissa - Sale Price: $64.25 The Holly 'Carissa', Ilex cornuta 'Carissa', is an outstanding dwarf and a dense grower. The leaves are dark glossy green with one spine at the tip. It is well suited for planting along a foundation, and it is excellent for use as a low hedge or in mass plantings. This 'Carissa' does not produce berries. 'Carissa' grows best in rich, well-drained, slightly acid soil, and does well in full sun or part shade. The plant is very drought tolerant, requiring little, if any, irrigation once established in the landscape. Fertilize once or twice to maintain good leaf color and adequate growth. This plant is often used on commercial landscape jobs where it is planted in mass in traffic islands, or planted in beds. If this plant is used as a hedge, prune the plant so it is wider at the bottom than at the top. This allows for light to get in to the bottom foliage and this will help keep the leaves from thinning. The Carissa prefers a pH of 5.0 to 6.5. Zones 6-9.
