This cultivar is a sterile triploid that produces very few if any seed pods. Aphrodite is an excellent flowering shrub that may be massed, planted in groups, or used as a specimen. Yews are classified as conifers, but female plants (yews are dioecious) produce red, fleshy, single-seeded fruit instead of cones. Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils of neutral pH in full sun to part shade. Hicks Yew tolerates a wide range of soils as long as drainage is good. Also tolerant of full shade and considerable pruning, but intolerant of temperature extremes. Use as a specimen, screen, hedge or foundation plant.
