Canada Red Select Cherry - Tree Form, Prunus virginiana 'Shubert Select', is a beautiful small tree with maroon-red foliage. The new growth is green, maturing to maroon-red. The small, white flowers in spring produce small, red fruits in summer that are savored by birds.  This fruit is an edible chokecherry. Bitternut Hickory - DetailsBitternut Hickory - Sale Price: $85.65
The Bitternut Hickory, Carya cordiformis, is also known as the Yellow-bud Hickory tree. Other common names are Swamp Hickory and Pignut Hickory. The yellow bud makes it difficult to mistake for another species and combined with the alternate compound leaves and relatively large nuts, it is very distinctive. The nuts are reported to be bitter, as one of the common names suggests. The lighter colored shallow cracks in the younger bark are roughly similar to those of young Shagbark Hickory, but the mature bark of Yellow-bud Hickory does not split so deeply. This deciduous tree is found on moist, fertile soils in the east and central U.S. and is intolerant of shade. Bitternut Hickory trees are known for their hard wood. The wood is used for pulpwood and furniture. This deciduous species displays a leaf color of medium green to dark green. The fall color is often green to chartreuse, but sometimes is a brilliant golden-yellow in excellent seasons. It is a fast growing, adaptable tree. This hickory is self-pollinating.

American Sentryâ„¢ Linden - DetailsAmerican Sentryâ„¢ Linden - Sale Price: $107.05
Fast-Growing Shade Tree with Ornamental Features  The American Linden is a large, fast-growing shade tree.  It will be a happy addition to your yard with its tall, stately presence.  As a hardy shade tree, you’ll also enjoy its cooling proximity during those hot summer months.  It grows to 95 feet in height with a spread of 45 feet, substantial enough for a large landscape, but not too big for a more diminutive yard.   Its superior use as a shade tree is clear not only in its stature but also in the large, heart shaped leaves that give a full effect to its spreading branches.    Beyond its shade and strength, your Linden tree will also provide some added color to your landscape.  You’ll soon come to associate spring with the clusters of aromatic yellow flowers that grace its branches.  As summer progresses you’ll enjoy watching woody, pea-sized seeds form.  Their light green shade provides a slight variation in color throughout your tree for the late summer.  When autumn appears, your Linden’s leaves will take a dramatic step as green leaves transform to brilliant yellow, sure to be seen from miles around.   The American Linden, also called the Basswood tree, starts out pyramidal in shape but becomes rounded at maturity.  Its benefits go far beyond its ornamental features.  The wood is valued for its light but strong nature and is suitable for a wide variety of uses.  Parts of the tree have medicinal uses, and some consider the honey from Linden flowers to be some of the best available.   The American Linden tree is an excellent choice for almost any yard, and would certainly be a strong and useful sentinel next to your house for years to come.   * Hardy shade tree * Spring and fall color * Wildlife appeal

Shagbark Hickory - DetailsShagbark Hickory - Sale Price: $78.50
The Shagbark Hickory tree, ‘Carya ovata’, has a distinctive, shaggy bark, conspicuous on tall straight trees, which gives this species its name. It grows well in both wet and dry areas, but prefers well-drained soils. Shellbark hickory trees are also called shagbark hickory, bigleaf shagbark hickory, kingnut, big shellbark, bottom shellbark, thick shellbark, and western shellbark, which attest to some of its characteristics. It is a slow-growing long-lived tree. The nuts, largest of all hickory nuts, are sweet and edible. Wildlife and people harvest most of them; those remaining produce seedling trees readily. The wood is hard, heavy, strong, and very flexible, making it a favored wood for tool handles. The wood also makes excellent firewood, and often is used in smoking meat. As with other edible nuts, squirrels compete with humans for this fruit. Its bold-textured, jagged branch structure and thick twigs give it a striking appearance in winter. This deciduous shade tree has a yellow fall color. * Nut Tree * Long-Lived * Conspicuous Bark
