Clematis - Petit Faucon
Clematis - Petit Faucon Clematis Petit Faucon, Clematis 'Petit Faucon', is an extraordinary and unique plant with unusual purple-blue flowers and a compact habit. At first the buds open to twisting petals that have bright orange-yellow stamens. As they mature, the flowers turn to a rich blue around creamy stamens. Even in a hot, dry summer this plant continues to bloom strong! The fluffy white seed heads are beautiful and the combination of deep violet flowers and silvery seed puffs is stunning! Petit Faucon is an extremely vigorous, free flowering, and strong growing clematis. Early flowers appear on the previous season's growth while late summer flowers appear on new growth. Petit Faucon blooms May-June and August-September. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. It needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, and can be used as a container plant. Prune lightly above the new leaf buds in early spring and remove any dead or weak stems. Clematis Petit Faucon is a very reliable performer once established; it takes a season or two to get going. Enjoy this non clinging clematis that blooms until late summer! * Unusual purple-blue flowers * Easy to grow * Extremely vigorous
