Buffaloberry - Silver - Sale Price: $54.25 Silver Buffaloberry, 'Shepherdia argentea', is an ornamental shrub that has silvery new growth and thorny branches. The orange-red berries can be used for fine jellies. It has a rounded shape and yellow-white flowers. It makes an excellent hedge or specimen plant. This drought tolerant shrub or small tree typically grows 8-12 feet tall and as wide. The silver-green leaves give it spring and summer interest, but its silver stems and red to yellow fruit make it attractive all winter long. It is as tough as nails and is not susceptible to any particular pest or disease. This is an underused plant that deserves more attention. Juniper - Green Sargent - Sale Price: $64.25 The Juniper 'Green Sargent', Juniperus chinensis sargentii 'Viridis', has broad spreading, thick, heavy branches that make an excellent ground cover. 'Green Sargent' has handsome, dark-green foliage that holds its rich green color all year long. This shrub plant is a salt-water tolerant evergreen shrub that can be grown by the water's edge. It will control erosion as a dense ground cover base plant for your landscape too. 'Green Sargent' is useful as a specimen or in small groups in landscape beds or a low-growing shrub under low windows in foundation plantings. This juniper is very hardy with wind and drought tolerance. It is best to prune while the plants are fairly young to help increase branching habit, and develop even better foliage density. * Salt Tolerant!

Barberry - Concorde - Sale Price: $32.95 Commonly known as Japanese Barberry, this compact little shrub’s burgundy-colored foliage is a dramatic —and welcome— contrast in a landscape dominated by green everything-else. ‘Concorde’ has very small teardrop-shaped leaves on thorny branches which form an orderly round plant that tops out at not much more than a couple of feet. Use ‘Concorde’ as a foundation planting or berm or border edging, and in any number of other small, sunny spaces where you need a plant of a different color. Full sun keeps the leaves their pretty royal purple color, which will gently turn deep red in the fall, and through the winter you’ll be treated to lovely red berries. A slightly acidic soil will benefit this slow-growing, pest-free shrub (which is also hypo-allergenic and resistant to deer, drought and disease). To tilt the pH, just tap a few nails into the soil under the shrub canopy. Pruning is only required to change its shape or overall size. Zones 4-8. There is always space for Concorde in any landscape, and it will look terrific in yours as well. Plant in full sun.

Sumac - Staghorn - Sale Price: $64.20 The Staghorn Sumac, Rhus typhina, is the most well-known sumac. Its branches resemble deer antlers. Staghorn sumac reaches 25 feet in height at maturity with an equal spread. It is not as tolerant of poorly drained soils as other sumacs. The large dark crimson - or rarely orange to yellow - pinnate leaves of this sumac have 15-31 narrow, leaflets that can be up to (6) long. The stems and fruits of Staghorn Sumac are densely hairy, as in the velvet stage of a stag's antlers. These colorful, nonpoisonous shrubs or small trees are rhizomatous. The large clumps form bright splashes of color along forest margins, road banks, and fencerows and in old fields over much of the Appalachians.

Juniper - Bar Harbor - Sale Price: $92.75 Juniper - Bar Harbor, Juniperus horizontalis 'Bar Harbor', is a creeping shrub that features blue-gray foliage in the summer time and then changes to a purple color in the winter. The Bar Harbor's chameleon-like leaves have long, sharp points that come in pairs or threes when juvenile, and then become more scale-like or flat when they are adult. 'Bar Harbor' has a moderate growth rate and gets about a foot tall and grows to six feet in width making it a nice choice to use for a groundcover. It grows in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Bar Harbor adapts to a wide range of soils, but prefers a dryish, sandy soil.
