The Fallgold Ash, Fraxinus nigra 'Fallgold', is a hardy, seedless Ash with deep green leaves that turn to a bright golden yellow in fall. It is upright in habit, and it is adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions including poorly drained sites. The Fallgold is a male tree so it is seedless, no messy seeds to pick up. Use this ash as residential street trees, along golf course fairways, or anywhere a strong vertical accent will complement the landscape. It prefers ample soil moisture and will tolerate periodic flooding since it is usually found growing in standing water in its natural habitat.  Unique tree with great fall color The Kentucky Coffee Tree, Gymnocladus Dioicus, may also be known as American coffee berry, Kentucky mahogony, nicker tree, or stump tree. Kentucky Coffee trees are large round-barked trees belonging to the legume family.   It reaches heights of 60 to 100 feet. Its short trunk, 1 to 2 feet in diameter, divides into several large branches. The leaves are ovalish and are 2-4 inches long. An unofficial state tree of Kentucky, the Kentucky Coffee Tree is closely related to the honeylocust. This deciduous tree is ideal as a shade tree on larger, ungroomed properties. It got its name because early North American colonists used the large seeds to make coffee. When eaten raw, the seeds are poisonous. The bark is deeply furrowed and dark brown in color. It adapts well to urban conditions and has wonderful fall color that starts a brilliant yellow  then turning to orange.

Ash - Mancana, Fraxinus mandshurica 'Mancana', has become popular and trendy. It is not large and spreading like many other ash trees, but has upward arching branches. This is an extremely hardy seedless ash that is a medium sized shade tree with a tightly rounded, almost lollipop shape; develops into a broad oval form. With full sun, good soil, and ample water, it can grow about 2 to 3 feet a year. This is a low maintenance tree, and should only be pruned in summer after the leaves have fully developed.

The Mountain-Ash, European, Sorbus aucuparia, is known for its showy white flowers and its numerous bright red berries. Its alternate name Rowan comes from an old Scandinavian word meaning red. The bark of this tree is smooth and dark gray, and is marked with horizontal lines. European Mountain-Ash is planted for its ornamental qualities and as a source of food for birds. The fruits mature in the late spring but often remain on a tree through fall and into early winter. Best used as a specimen plant, it is upright when young and spreading at maturity. The Mountain-Ash is a vigorous and rapidly growing tree and can reach heights of 25' to 40' and widths of 16' to 25'. Plant in a cool moist location and does better in full sun but will tolerate some shade. This tree prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soils. The fall leaf color can range from yellow, red, and reddish purple which provides for a showy fall display!
