Forsythia - Gold Tideâ„¢ Gold Tide™ Forsythia, Forsythia 'Courtasol' (PP9,104) is a compact shrub that has an abundance of bright lemon-yellow flowers blooming in early spring, creating quite the color show when mass planted. When in zone 4, this plant needs adequate snow cover for a consistent spring bloom. You need to prune immediately after spring flowering. Gold Tide is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils, in full sun to part shade, but the best flower production is in full sun. With its compact-spreading shape, it typically grows to only 20” tall but spreading to as much as 4’ wide. Group them in borders, foundations or on banks or slopes. They do well on sunny areas of open woodland gardens. Zones 4-8. * Short Forsythia!

It is a rapid-growing, multi-stemmed, suckering, deciduous shrub that grows to a maximum size of 4-6' tall on erect, usually unbranched stems. The outstanding ornamental features of this cultivar are: (1) bright red winter stems which are particularly showy against a snowy backdrop and (2) medium/dark green leaves (to 4.5 long) which are edged with white.
