Heritage Red Raspberries The Heritage Red Raspberry, 'Rubus idaeus', a spring planted herbacious root, is the classic name in raspberries. This red variety has a sweet flavor and firm fruit. Heritage produces medium sized fruits with good flavor, firmness, and freezing quality. Place the Heritage Red Raspberry in full sun and rich, well drained soil. To encourage the best growth, water well during growth. In winter, cut the plant back to about 5 canes per crown.
