It has an olive size and shape, and the fruit is bright orange. Its oval fruit is 3/4 to 1 in diameter and between 1 to 2 long.  The tartness of the fruit makes it great for use in cooking, or for marmalades and jellies. Nagami flowers best in areas with warm summers. The fruit ripens in late winter or early spring. Nagami Kumquat tree is shrub-like and is similar to an orange tree in appearance.
