Heavenly Bamboo - Firehouse - Sale Price: $71.35 The Nandina 'Firehouse', Nandina domestica nana 'Firehouse', is often chosen for its excellent red fall color; this dwarf variety has leaves that hold the red fire engine color all winter long too. The compact mounding form has bright green spring foliage and grows to about 2 feet high. The 'Firehouse' is a medium-sized tender evergreen shrub prized by gardeners worldwide for its colorful lacy leaves and attractive flowers and fruit. The airy compound leaves are purple-red when young and again in fall and winter, often with bright red and orange highlights. The foliage and stiff upright stems suggest those of bamboo, particularly when pruned in the Asian fashion with the lower leaves thinned to expose the stems.
