Grass - Fountain - Sale Price: $39.95 The Fountain Grass, Pennisetum alopecuroides, is a showy ornamental, deciduous perennial grass with slender 3 1/2 foot leaves. The silvery-rose flower plumes that resemble foxtails are borne July through September; turns pinkish brown in the fall. Being drought tolerant, it is a Midwest favorite. The cascading, narrow leaves on this plant have a fountain shape. Fountain grass maintains its lovely leaves and flowers through January. Spread a layer of mulch or other organic material 2 to 3 inches deep around the entire plant. Water well, once a week in dry summers. Fountain Grass should be used as an accent or specimen plant, in the middle of borders, and with other perennials. They can be used in containers too.
