Southern Magnolia
The Southern Magnolia tree, ‘Magnolia grandiflora’. They don’t call this “grandiflora” for nothing: it’s royalty among trees in the South. People treasure their Magnolias for their magnificent strength, fantastically fragrant blossoms and their incomparable beauty. The Southern Magnolia seems to be especially fond of Georgia, where it is prolific and grows particularly well. With its polished evergreen foliage and inescapable perfume, this is one of the most breathtaking native trees for Southern landscapes. It will readily adapt to most soils, moisture fluctuations and light conditions, though it prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soil and plenty of sun. Pest problems are virtually non-existent. This tree will provide a pleasing background for shrubs, particularly needle evergreens. It should be planted where lowest branches can grow to the ground because it is difficult to grow anything underneath. Zones 6-10. Flowering Tree Fragrant Flowers Evergreen

The outstanding exfoliating bark is golden brown to dark red with a glistening metallic color, which gives an excellent winter effect and landscape interest. Clumps will have two or more stems. It does best in moist, well-drained soil high in organic matter, but it is also moderately salt tolerant. This tree has a moderate growth rate and can be grown as a single or multi-trunked tree. Use as a specimen tree in areas where it can be appreciated for the bark and silhouette in winter. It is ideal for the small yard because of its smaller size. Summit Ash - DetailsSummit Ash - Sale Price: $114.95
The Summit Ash, Fraxinus pennsylvanica 'Summit', is a vigorous selection of Green Ash that features a straight trunk and is uniformly upright in habit.  Being very hardy, it tends to color early in the fall with golden yellow color! Although reported to be a female selection, seed production has not been a problem.  It rarely is fed on by Japanese beetles.   Once developed properly in the nursery, the trunk remains straight up through the crown of the tree, and the branch habit is reported to be better than the species.  Early pruning helps assure that this happens. The attractive bark is red-tinged and furrowed, and it is reportedly thicker than other Ashes.  The tree grows quickly and can sometimes reach 80 feet in height. Summit has green to reddish-purple flowers that appear in spring.  This tree has been successfully grown in urban areas where air pollution, poor drainage, compacted soil, and/or drought are common! * Hardy * Upright habit * Fall color

The Alder is one of the few tree varieties that convert nitrogen from the soil atmosphere enabling it to grow and prosper even in adverse conditions. Dawn Redwood - DetailsDawn Redwood - Sale Price: $78.50
Fast-Growing Massive Tree The Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) is a massive, fast-growing tree.  It would look great as a shade tree in your yard or as a street planting.  It would also look attractive as a container plant on your patio while it’s still small. The Dawn Redwood is the shortest of the Redwoods, but can still grow up to 200 feet in height.    It can be quite easy to grow, so you won’t have to spend much of your time on care or maintenance. Despite its massive size, the Dawn Redwood has a gentleness about it.  Run the foliage through your fingers.  You’ll experience its soft and fern-like texture, so unlike what you might expect from a large deciduous tree.  The foliage begins as light green in the spring, transforming to deep green in the summer.  The leaves turn a lovely reddish-bronze before their autumn descent in preparation for a winter rest. The Redwood has horizontal branching that continues all the way to the ground, affording it a stately pyramidal presence in your yard.  If you prefer ground clearance though, it adapts well to being trimmed a bit.   The Redwood is an ancient tree known to have been in existence as long as 50 million years ago, but is currently on the endangered list in the wild.  Growing a Dawn Redwood is a pleasure in and of itself, but growing one on your property is also an investment in the future. * Fast growing* Massive size* Hardy
