Spiraea - Shibori
Spiraea - Shibori The Spiraea Shibori, Spiraea japonica 'Shirobana', develops into a small, upright, attractive, amd deciduous shrub that bears unusual multi-colored flower clusters. It is a well-branched plant with flowers forming flat clusters by mid-June, ranging from a mixed pink to white. This dense, mounded shrub has medium-green leaves that are oval and toothed. Thriving in a wide range of soils in sun or light shade, Shibori Spiraea is highly versatile and an ornamental that works well in mass plantings, mixed borders, and low informal hedges. It is best to deadhead spent flowers to encourage prolonged secondary bloom and to prevent self-sowing. Prune back plants and remove weak and dead stems in early spring to promote strong healthy new growth and larger more abundant flower heads. Shibori is the perfect plant for spicing up northern native plant landscapes and wild garden woodlands; also use in containers or for foundation plants.
