Double Flowering Plum - Tree Form - Sale Price: $122.75 The Double Flowering plum, ‘Prunus triloba’ is grown in tree form. This large shrub has been trained to a head, forming at two to three feet on a single stem. A familiar sight across the northeast quadrant of the U.S in May, the Double Flowering Plum (or Rose Tree of China), puts on quite a show with its gorgeous double candy-pink flowers blanketing each branch with fat pom-poms of color. It tends toward a round shape, is a robust grower and easily rivals the annual display of Washington cherry blossoms in northern areas. From a distance, a stand of these trees looks like a pink cotton cloud; few spring-blooming trees get the reaction that this one does. The foliage is more of a grass-green than dark green, and turns to an attractive yellow-bronze color in the fall. The Double Flowering Plum can take a lot of abuse in terms of soil condition, but it does need good sun, good drainage and ample room to perform at its best. Zones 3-8.

Princess Kay Plum is a double-flowered selection of Prunus nigra discovered in the wild in northern Minnesota. The tree form is oval with a somewhat open informal branching habit. It is a small tree that produces very pleasant and fragrant double white blooms in early May, before the leaves emerge. These flowers then turn pinkish as they age. Princess Kay Plum has foliage that is medium green and sometimes develops a reddish-purple fall color in early autumn. Fruit set is sparse and is of poor quality. The trunk and branches are almost black in color. Adaptable to a range of soil conditions, Princess Kay Plum is not tolerant of poorly drained soils or extremely droughty soils. Native American Plum - Sale Price: $57.05 The Native American Plum tree, ‘Prunus americana’, is also known as the Native Plum, Hedge Plum, Sloe or Wild Plum. Native American Plum trees are small, deciduous, single trunk trees or a multi-stemmed shrub which occurs in rocky or sandy soils in woodlands, pastures, abandoned farms, streams and hedgerows. This deciduous tree typically grows to 15-25' tall with a broad, spreading crown. As a shrub, it suckers freely and can form large colonies. The 2 to 5 inch white flowers appear in early spring before the foliage appears. Flowers are followed by edible, round, red plums with bright yellow pulp which ripen in early summer. This species is usually grown for ornamental value and not for fruit production, however. Although the plums can be eaten raw, the quality is somewhat poor. The fruits are perhaps better used for preserves and jellies. The leaves turn yellow to red in autumn for great fall color. Branches and twigs are an attractive dark reddish-brown.
