Butterfly Bush - Nanho Purple
Butterfly Bush - Nanho Purple Nanho Purple Butterfly Bush, Buddleia davidii 'Nanho Purple', is sometimes called the Summer Lilac. Vigorous growing multi-stem plant, it has tiny individual purple flowers that are produced in profusion in long, dense trusses from July to September. It is more compactly leafed than most Butterfly Bush varieties. In northern areas it dies back in winter, so trim to 6-10 in spring. It is crown hardy in zone 5, a good cut flower, and attracts butterflies. Butterfly bushes prefer full sun and must receive eight or more hours of sun a day to thrive and get the best blooms. Cut faded flowers off of bush regularly to keep it blooming throughout the summer. It is easily maintained at four to six feet in height, and five feet wide, if it is hard-pruned annually. Nanho Purple does not require much watering once it is established. Zones 5-9. * Lilac-Like Flowers!
