Clematis - Blue Angel
Clematis - Blue Angel Clematis Blue Angel, Clematis 'Blue Angel™', is a heavenly beauty, a prolific bloomer, and an exquisite climber. One of our favorites! The ruffled petals are sky blue along the edges and get lighter towards the center. The bright yellow stamens contrast nicely with the silky blue 6 flowers. Blue Angel received the Word of Recommendation by the judging committees of the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society in Holland and the gold medal at 'Planetarium' in Boskoop in 1992. Clematis 'Blue Angel™' needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Cooler soils temperatures increase performance! This plant is a very reliable performer once established; they will take a season or two to get going. Prune this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems. * Huge flowers * Attracts hummingbirds * Deciduous plant
