Coral Bells Paris, Heuchera 'Paris', is as silvery colored as any of our minty selections. It has striking, white-veiled sea green foliage with ruffled edges. These leaves give rise to continuous columns of large, deep rose-colored flowers. ‘Paris’ is a 14 mounding plant that combines the striking white-frosted green leaves with stalks of cheery rose-red flowers and repeat blooms until frost! ‘Paris’ looks especially good around the edge of borders, near variegated plants, woodland edges, rock gardens, perennial borders, or in mass to form an attractive ground cover. Coral Bells is susceptible to rot, so good drainage is essential while roots establish themselves. Cold and drought tolerant and withstanding heat and humidity, nothing seems to phase this plant. 'Paris' needs about one inch of water per week; divide clumps in fall. Heuchera adds a bit of flavor to any perennial garden with its texture, vigor, and vibrant color. The foliage is reddish-green in spring turning to deep green in summer and finally turning bronze in fall. The Christmas Fern, 'Polystichum acrostichoides', occurs in both dry and moist wooded slopes, moist banks and ravines. It typically grows in a fountain-like clump to 2' tall and features leathery, lance-shaped, evergreen (green at Christmas time as the common name suggests) fronds. The stocking shape of the pinnae also suggests Christmas! Crosiers (young fiddleheads) in spring are silvery and scaled. Sori appear on the undersides of the pinnae only at the ends (last 1/3) of the fronds. Christmas ferns are asymmetrical with a fine texture and have a moderately dense crown. The evergreen fronds provide good winter interest for the landscape. This fern does not spread but the clumps increase in size over time. These plants serve as wonderful hosts for butterfly larvae and are great for erosion control.
