Grass - Red Switch - Sale Price: $64.25 Grass - Red Switch, Panicum virgatum 'Shenandoah', has a more upright form and is the smallest of the Panicum. It is a clump-forming, warm season grass which typically grows in an upright, vertical clump to 3' tall (to 5' when in flower). Its foliage is green, tinged with red during the growing season, then turning bright red in the fall. Nothing comes close to the fall color displayed by this grass, and it retains this color throughout the winter! It will attract birds and is suitable for cut and dried flower arrangements. Red Switch Grass prefers full sun, moist fertile soil, but adapts to a wide range of soil conditions. Red Switch is a warm season grass that likes to grow in warm weather. Before it will show signs of life in the spring, the soil must warm up, and be warm for possibly as long as two weeks. This switch grass can be used very effectively when planted with fall blooming asters. Cut back clumps to the ground in late winter to early spring.

With its bluish gray foliage, the plumes appear overwhelming from June to July. 'Elijah Blue' has a plant height of 12 and spread of 12-24. This grass prefers full sun, but will tolerate morning shade. Combined with blue and purple flowers, such as Salvia and Veronica, it adds color and contrast to any perennial garden. For best results, comb through the plant in winter to remove dead foliage. Keep well watered in hot summer months, especially when becoming established.

Ajuga - Burgundy Glow - Sale Price: $42.75 The Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’, Ajuga reptans, is a useful ground cover with short spikes of blue flowers. This Ajuga is one of the most popular, forming striking mounds of leaves dappled in green, pink and cream. During the wintertime, Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’ develops rich bronze and burgundy tones. The flowers appear in late spring on 6” spikes with a plant spread of 12-18”. ‘Burgundy Glow’ should be planted 6-9” apart for a beautiful ground cover. Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’ will do best in a shaded area but will adapt to morning sun. (The foliage colors will be more vivid with morning sun.) It prefers moist soil with a good drainage but will tolerate moderately dry areas. Do avoid soggy conditions. This Ajuga looks great in rock gardens, as a border plants, in mass plantings and is great for preventing erosion. It is relatively carefree; however, it can be invasive. Butterflies and hummingbirds are definitely attracted to Ajuga, not to mention being deer resistant and a low allergen. Japanese Honeysuckle - Halliana - Sale Price: $56.95 Japanese Honeysuckle 'Halliana', Lonicera japonica 'Halliana', is the most commonly seen Honeysuckle and is also known as Hall's Honeysuckle. It has whitish-yellow flowers with a delightful fragrance. Hall's Honeysuckles are a very fast growing plant to 15 to 30 feet. When used as a ground cover, they are about 2 feet tall. It produces rampant growth capable of engulfing wire or chain-link fences in just a couple of seasons. It is also a reliable, fragrant evergreen vine for a shade arbor. Excellent for screening or to drape over an unsightly wall or wood fence. Honeysuckle enjoys the full sun, but grows and flowers well in partial shade. Honeysuckle can be cut nearly to the ground in late winter/early spring when it becomes too big; new shoots emerge and growth resumes in the spring. A country-garden standby often trained onto dilapidated outbuildings or into the branches of dead trees. Capable of covering huge amounts of space in a short time, this vine makes a great ground cover on banks and slopes for erosion control. Be aware that is can be quite invasive.

Evison.  Evison specifically hybridized this prized variety for patio containers!
