Rhododendron - Vulcan's Flame - Sale Price: $106.95 The Rhododendron 'Vulcan's Flame', 'Rhododendron 'Vulcans Flame’ is a vigorous, easy to grow plant with a broad, rounded habit. The fiery red flowers appear against the dark green foliage in late spring. It matures to 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide. Rhododendrons are shallow rooting so they require regular watering during the summer or during hot spells. To create a full, well-shaped shrub, pinch-off the new growth for the first few years. Vulcan’s Flame is an easy care rhododendron that needs excellent drainage, mulching and a peat moss soil additive. Roots will rot in poorly drained soil, so well-drained soil is a must! Established plants can benefit from fertilization. The Vulcan is heat and sun tolerant. An ideal location in colder zones is an area with filtered shade and some winter protection. If you want a red flowering rhododendron, this one is it!

Ninebark - Summer Wine® - Sale Price: $39.95 The Physocarpus Summer Wine, Physocarpus opulifolious 'Summer Wine', is a new Ninebark that is very neat with compact branching and deeply cut, dark crimson leaves. The summer Wine is purple ninebark hybrid that resulted from a cross between Nana and Diabolo. This resulted in a shorter plant with the purple leaves. This plant requires little pruning, but if you need to prune, do it after this plant blooms. Do not prune after mid-August to allow for the flower buds to form for next years flowers. This compact ninebark looks great in a pot. Use this plant in groupings or masses, in perennial or shrub borders, containers and as a short screen. The pinkish white flowers appear in mid-summer. Summer Wine is showy and extremely hardy and is prized as a landscape shrub and as a cut flower. As with other ninebarks, the bark exfoliates in papery strips and with the colorful fruit it produces, this plant is truly a 4 season wonder! Crimson Leaves!

P.J.M.'s evergreen leaves turn a wonderful deep mahogany-purple in winter and with more sun exposure, its winter foliage color intensifies. It is one of the most reliable rhododendrons for northern climates. Rhododendrons are ornamental, acidic-soil loving broad-leaf evergreens. They grow best in partial shade.
