Rose of Sharon - Blush Satin - Sale Price: $49.95 Rose of Sharon - Blush Satin, Hibiscus syriacus 'Mathilde' (PP12,660), is an upright attractive plant that produces soft pink flowers with a prominent red eye, and it is long blooming. Blush Satin is a tremendous improvement in hardy Hibiscus.  It is a strong growing plant with lots of large, brightly colored blooms. A moderate grower, ‘Mathilde’ is also pollution-tolerant and prefers full sun and well-drained soil. This Blush Satin does best in full sun, but light shade is acceptable, especially in far southern or southwestern climates. It is very tolerant of heat and drought, but keep it well watered during growth. The foliage covering is dense, and this landscape plant typically grows 4' to 6' tall, but can grow to 10' with a width about two-thirds the height. P.J.M.'s evergreen leaves turn a wonderful deep mahogany-purple in winter and with more sun exposure, its winter foliage color intensifies. It is one of the most reliable rhododendrons for northern climates. Rhododendrons are ornamental, acidic-soil loving broad-leaf evergreens. They grow best in partial shade. Plant in a location protected from strong winter winds. P.J.M. loves to be planted with pre-moistened peat moss and well drained soil is a must! Rhododendron - Haaga - Sale Price: $51.35 The Rhododendron Haaga, 'Haaga Rhododendron', is a new, hardy, dwarf variety from the University of Helsinki, Finland. It produces dark pink flowers which contrast nicely with the dark green, coarse foliage. The Haaga will begin to bloom in May. This plant needs excellent drainage, mulching and a peat moss soil additive. Roots will rot in poorly drained soil. It will not do well in windy sites. This shrub is fussy about its soil conditions. The soil needs to be rich and acidic. It is a good practice to apply thick mulch around the root zone in colder climates. Any pruning should be done after flowering in order to avoid removing any of the current season’s flowers! The Haaga is a dense evergreen shrub and it is a highly valued landscape ornamental.
