Clematis - Barbara Harrington - Sale Price: $42.75 Clematis Barbara Harrington, Clematis 'Barbara Harrington', has lovely cerise 4 flowers that have pointed petals with a darker border and contrasting yellow anthers. Liriope - Silver Dragon - Sale Price: $56.95 The Liriope 'Silver Dragon', Liriope spicata 'Silver dragon', is an attractive evergreen perennial that grows 10 to 12 inches tall; has dark green, grass-like leaves that are vertically striped with white vertical striping. 'Silver Dragon' is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade.  Divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring; prune in winter. The erect flower spikes with pale lavender flowers appear, somewhat hidden, among the leaves in late summer.  The flowers often give way to greenish berries in fall.   This ‘Silver Dragon’ Liriope spreads by underground rhizomes and makes a wonderful groundcover; can be used for erosion control; also plant under tough areas such as shallow rooted trees or along ponds or streams. Periwinkle - Sale Price: $39.95 Periwinkle, Vinca minor, is also known as Trailing Myrtle, Dwarf Periwinkle and Creeping Myrtle. This species of Periwinkle is one of the most popular and widely used ground covers. Trailing stems with smooth, evergreen leaves (to 1.5 long) root at the nodes as they go along the ground and quickly spread to form an attractive ground cover. Tubular, lavender blue, phlox-like flowers (to 1 inch across) appear in the leaf axils in spring and continue to flower intermittently throughout summer into fall. Foliage will mound up to 6 tall. Periwinkles are used as a versatile ground cover and provide good cover for bulb beds. Effective on slopes or banks to stabilize soils and prevent erosion. Easily grown in average, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. It tolerates full shade, but it prefers moist, humusy soils in part shade. Mondo Grass - Sale Price: $56.95 The Grass 'Mondo', Ophiopogon japonicus, is an evergreen perennial which forms a dense clump of grass-like leaves; similar in appearance to Liriope, but finer textured with thinner blades. ('Mondo' actually is a member of the lily family despite its appearance and common name.) The leaves emerge in clumps from a network of rhizomes that grow just below the soil surface.  With age, the clumps will merge to form a soft dense carpet of foliage.  The small light purple flowers appear in summer, but are of little interest since they are hidden in the dense foliage, and so are the small blue-black berries that follow. It can be used as a bed edge or as a groundcover in a shady area.  It is important for erosion control since the dense mat of roots holds the ground well; avoid planting it near moist areas because it will take over! 'Mondo' Grass can also be used as an evergreen in planters, either alone or mixed with seasonal annuals for color. ‘Mondo’ has a rich green color that helps to provide definition, allowing the features of the garden to really stand out.  (Its height will not compete with the features of other plants).  Plant this lush, hardy grass with slender blades that requires no mowing! * Dense clumping habit * Mat forming * Groundcover
