Weigela - Carnaval - Sale Price: $57.10 Carnaval Weigela, weigela florida 'Courtalor', is a beautiful shrub that produces multitudes of pink flower buds that open into shades of red, white and pink trumpet-shaped flowers. The glossy deep green leaves are heavily textured. Carnaval is an extremely showy landscape plant with a growth that measures 4-5 feet tall and 3-5 feet wide. Slowly prune the down growing branches, and it will vigorously grow upright. Carnaval is a grower favorite because it is easy to plant, easy to maintain, and easy to enjoy! It likes sandy, well drained soil under almost any conditions. It can be planted as a specimen, hedge or in groupings planted 3 feet apart. It grows best in a sunny location with moist soil. This weigela tolerates some drought.

Cotoneaster - Spreading - Sale Price: $19.95 Spreading Cotoneaster, 'Cotoneaster divaricatus', is a beautiful rounded ornamental shrub with pink flowers in the spring. It produces bright red berries in the summer and is one of the best fruiting varieties. The glossy, dark green foliage turns red in the fall. It is marginally hardy in zone 4. This medium-sized ornamental shrub matures at about 7' tall by 8' wide and has an upright columnar growth habit in youth, but quickly becoming horizontal and spreading with age. Spreading Cotoneaster prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, but is very adaptable and urban tolerant. It has few disease and pest problems. Its fall color is a nice mixture of green, yellow, orange, red, and burgundy, slowly becoming deciduous.

Russian Cypress - Sale Price: $49.95 Russian Cypress, Microbiota decussata, is an extremely hardy, low growing evergreen that resembles the horizontal type junipers, but has the bright green soft foliage like an arborvitae. The foliage develops a showy bronze color in the winter. It matures at about 1foot tall by 6 feet wide, although it can get taller and much wider. It has a radiating mat growth habit and a rather slow growth rate. Russian Cypress likes full sun to partial shade, and its best performance occurs in partial sun in moist, well-drained soils. It is very adaptable to poor, dry, thin soils in sun and wind exposed sites. It can be used as a woody groundcover for foundations, wall plantings where it can cascade, group or mass plantings, raised planters, and embankments.

Barberry - Concorde - Sale Price: $32.95 Commonly known as Japanese Barberry, this compact little shrub’s burgundy-colored foliage is a dramatic —and welcome— contrast in a landscape dominated by green everything-else. ‘Concorde’ has very small teardrop-shaped leaves on thorny branches which form an orderly round plant that tops out at not much more than a couple of feet. Use ‘Concorde’ as a foundation planting or berm or border edging, and in any number of other small, sunny spaces where you need a plant of a different color. Full sun keeps the leaves their pretty royal purple color, which will gently turn deep red in the fall, and through the winter you’ll be treated to lovely red berries. A slightly acidic soil will benefit this slow-growing, pest-free shrub (which is also hypo-allergenic and resistant to deer, drought and disease). To tilt the pH, just tap a few nails into the soil under the shrub canopy. Pruning is only required to change its shape or overall size. Zones 4-8. There is always space for Concorde in any landscape, and it will look terrific in yours as well. Plant in full sun.

Japanese Tree Lilac - Sale Price: $96.35 The Japanese Tree Lilac (2002 Iowa Tree of the Year), with its attractive multi-stemmed clump form and ravishingly fragrant, creamy-white panicles, now graces many residential yards as well as parking lots, medians and commercial properties. Landscapers love this plant for its interesting spreading branches and vase-shaped crown, its long June-through-July blooming season and its very easy care. Ruddy, cherry-like bark and neat, dark green leaves contrast nicely with the creaminess of the flowers. The Japanese Tree Lilac needs at least six hours of good sun for flowering and likes regular watering, but has no fussy soil requirements. Be careful to avoid using lawn fertilizer around the plant base, or you may encourage more foliage than flowers. If pruning is needed, do so right after flowering. Zones 3-7.
