Mock Orange 'Snowbelle', Philadelphus 'Snowbelle', is a Canadian introduction. 'Snowbelle' is loaded with clusters of deeply fragrant, double, pure white blossoms. Snowbelle is ideal for smaller gardens. Prune if needed after it blooms in spring. Adaptable to many soils, moderate moisture, and it is deer resistant. This low grower will be 3-4' tall and 3-4 feet wide, and is excellent as a classic traditional garden plant. Mock Orange has many uses in the landscape and it’s especially enjoyable when grown near a walkway, patio or driveway where one can enjoy its beauty and fragrance. The Vernal Witch-hazel, Hamamelis vernalis, is a deciduous, winter-blooming shrub, with a rounded habit which typically grows 6-10' tall with a somewhat larger spread. Viburnum - Summer Snowflake, Viburnum plicatum 'Summer Snowflake', is a compact, dense, upright, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub which typically matures 3' to 5' tall with a similar spread. In the spring, 'Summer Snowflake' will bloom with clusters of white flowers that follow along the horizontal stems, creating a double row of blooms on each side. This bloom pattern gives 'Summer Snowflake' its common name - doublefile viburnum. The non-fragrant, lovely white flowers are almost continuous throughout the summer.  It has dark green oval leaves that can reach up to five inches long. The foliage turns a rusty red to bronze in the early fall, and the flowers give way to bright red berries that are relished by the birds. Summer Snowflake is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist loams, but tolerates wide range of soils and has good drought tolerance.
