Grass - Fountain - Sale Price: $39.95 The Fountain Grass, Pennisetum alopecuroides, is a showy ornamental, deciduous perennial grass with slender 3 1/2 foot leaves. The silvery-rose flower plumes that resemble foxtails are borne July through September; turns pinkish brown in the fall. Being drought tolerant, it is a Midwest favorite. The cascading, narrow leaves on this plant have a fountain shape. Fountain grass maintains its lovely leaves and flowers through January. Spread a layer of mulch or other organic material 2 to 3 inches deep around the entire plant. Water well, once a week in dry summers. Yarrow - Red Velvet - Sale Price: $64.25 The Yarrow Red Velvet, Achillea millefolium 'Red Velvet' , is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial with stunning deep, wine red, non-fading, four inch flower heads. These striking red flowers appear on deep green lacy foliage from mid-summer to early autumn. If you cut or deadhead the blooms promptly, it will rebloom for weeks! Prune Red Velvet to the ground level and add a nice dose of manure each winter to enhance foliage growth. This yarrow benefits from a layer of mulch to retain soil moisture, but does grow under poorer conditions since it is drought tolerant. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring. The deep green, lobed leaves make a wonderful contrast.  'Lady Baltimore' prefers moist to wet soil conditions and loves the heat of summer.  It is frequently used as a specimen. It is best to plant this Hibiscus in a full sun to partial shade area, and it will tolerate most soil types.  'Lord Baltimore' looks wonderful with grasses, or as a background plant. It grows well in any fertile, well-drained soil with ample moisture. Do not allow to dry to the wilting point.  Be patient; hibiscus can be slow to emerge in spring; provide regular fertilization during the growing season.  Be careful to not over water until plants show signs of growth!  For best performance, plant before the heat of the summer.
