Hosta - August Moon The Hosta ‘August Moon’, Hosta sieboldiana, has wide, heart-shaped gold colored foliage with slightly rippled margins, making it very striking! Hosta ‘August Moon’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained area. It grows best in highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. A great choice for any beginner gardener! ‘August Moon’ needs high-filtered or dappled sunlight which is necessary for clean, healthy growth. Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors of this plant, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas!
