Its tiny white flower clusters are set against a backdrop of deep green leaves that are almost iridescent in the summer. The bright foliage turns a deep, purplish-red in the fall. The flowers are attractive to butterflies. A light shearing will encourage repeat bloom.  Tor blooms on new wood so pruning in early spring or late winter is recommended. Western Sand Cherry - Sale Price: $64.25 Western Sand Cherry, prunus besseyi, displays attractive, single, white flowers in May, and then it produces an abundance of 3/4 purple-black sweet fruits.  They can be eaten fresh, dried, or processed as jellies and pies. This hardy rounded shrub has silver-green foliage.  Plant the shrub where it will be in direct sunlight for most or all of the day. Well-drained soil is best, but isn't an absolute requirement, as sand cherry is very adaptable to poor soil. It grows 5-6 feet in height and width, forming a rounded shape, and makes a great shrub for farmstead windbreaks. Russian Cypress - Sale Price: $49.95 Russian Cypress, Microbiota decussata, is an extremely hardy, low growing evergreen that resembles the horizontal type junipers, but has the bright green soft foliage like an arborvitae. The foliage develops a showy bronze color in the winter. It matures at about 1foot tall by 6 feet wide, although it can get taller and much wider. It has a radiating mat growth habit and a rather slow growth rate. Russian Cypress likes full sun to partial shade, and its best performance occurs in partial sun in moist, well-drained soils. It is very adaptable to poor, dry, thin soils in sun and wind exposed sites.
