Juniper - Dwarf Procumbens
The Dwarf Juniper 'Procumbens', Juniperus procumbens 'Nana', has needles slightly shorter than regular procumbens and the growth is less vigorous, both in height and spread. A shrubby groundcover, 'Procumbens' is excellent for rock gardens, bonsai, or as a patio plant. Native to southern Japan, 'Procumbens' is a Juniper that is best known for its ability to create bonsai plants and small topiary sculptures. It is equally well-known for being a very resilient plant. This tough juniper tolerates drought, heat and humidity, pollution in urban settings, the seashore, wind, and deer and rabbit munching! Adapting to a wide range of soils, it prefers a dryish, sandy soil; root rot may occur, particularly in wet, poorly drained soils. This highly adaptable evergreen will make its way into your gardener’s heart in a short time!
