Dianthus - Cranberry Ice - Sale Price: $39.95 The Dianthus Cranberry Ice, Dianthus 'Cranberry Ice' (PPAF), has intricately patterned 1 1/2 inch pink flowers with a purple eye and pink frilled edge with dense mounded blue-green foliage. In late spring through early summer, 'Cranberry Ice' will provide masses of bright pink blooms with serrated edges that match the bold pink spot in the center of each flower! It is heat and drought tolerant for short periods however produces the best foliage and flowers in areas not so warm and dry. Phlox - Emerald Blue - Sale Price: $42.75 The Phlox ‘Emerald Blue’, Phlox subulata, is an ideal ground cover with dark blue flowers and a thick mat of semi-evergreen foliage. Emerald Blue may also be called creeping phlox or moss phlox. Blooming from April to May, it has a plant height of 4-6” and a spread of 18-24”. It is a definite addition to any perennial garden. ‘Emerald Blue’ needs to be planted in a full sun area in well-drained soil. Use ‘Emerald Blue’ in rock gardens, as a spread over curbs and short retaining walls, or in difficult edges of dry streambeds. Emerald Blue is deer resistant and it attracts butterflies. Fern - Christmas - Sale Price: $42.75 The Christmas Fern, 'Polystichum acrostichoides', occurs in both dry and moist wooded slopes, moist banks and ravines. It typically grows in a fountain-like clump to 2' tall and features leathery, lance-shaped, evergreen (green at Christmas time as the common name suggests) fronds. The stocking shape of the pinnae also suggests Christmas! Crosiers (young fiddleheads) in spring are silvery and scaled.  Sori appear on the undersides of the pinnae only at the ends (last 1/3) of the fronds.   Christmas ferns are asymmetrical with a fine texture and have a moderately dense crown. The evergreen fronds provide good winter interest for the landscape. This fern does not spread but the clumps increase in size over time.  These plants serve as wonderful hosts for butterfly larvae and are great for erosion control. For best results, plant this fern in a garden in masses, or add to shade beds for year round color and contrasts with other perennials. Hosta - Remember Me - Sale Price: $39.95 Hosta Remember Me, Hosta 'Remember Me', is named in honor of Sandy De Boer, a former employee of Walters Gardens Inc. who died of breast cancer in 2001.  Walters Gardens Inc. makes a donation for every plant sold of 'Remember Me' to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Hosta 'Remember Me' is a beautiful white centered selection of Hosta 'June'.  The small mounds of creamy white foliage with blue-green margins make excellent plants for smaller areas or in front of the border.  'Remember Me' demonstrates many of the same outstanding qualities of 'June', like good slug resistance and thick healthy foliage.  Lavender flowers add additional beauty to this hosta! Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.  It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.  Plant this low care plant in an area that receives the right amount of light.  The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves.  'Remember Me' is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as specimen or edging plant.
