These satin pink blooms with gold stamens, have a rich vanilla perfume - strongest scented of the C. Montana’s.  This clematis is the earliest to bloom, with the buds coming from the previous season's stems. It is a deciduous climber, with dark green, bronze-flushed leaves.   It is a vigorous growing cultivar, but not as cold hardy as large flowering hybrids.
