Daylily - Blueberry Candy - Sale Price: $54.95 Hemerocallis Blueberry Candy, Hemerocallis 'Blueberry Candy', is a marvelous reblooming plant with fragrant, soft ivory flowers. It has a blueberry colored eye and ruffled petals. ‘Blueberry Candy’ blooms profusely in midsummer and then again in late summer when many other perennials are beginning to fade. Individual flowers last only one day, but since each plant produces many buds, the total blooming time of a well-established clump may last more than a month; attracts butterflies. Use this daylily for color in shrub borders and in perennial beds. Once established, the daylily can be an excellent groundcover on slopes because it has roots that hold soil against erosion. ‘Blueberry Candy’ also makes a beautiful floral arrangement. Divide this daylily every 3-5 years, or when the number of flower buds and the size of bloom begin to decline. Daylilies are some of the easiest plants to grow and are a good choice for any gardener. They will grow in almost any soil and handle drought to wet soil conditions. Use for stand alone plantings, in borders or in mixed containers and tubs. Daylilies can survive many harsh conditions that other plants cannot including: polluted city environments, slopes, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in winter, and under Black Walnut trees (not affected by juglone). | Hosta - Seducer - Sale Price: $42.75 The Hosta Seducer, Hosta 'Seducer', is a very large sized hosta with broad dark green leaves. ‘Seducer' has dark green leaves that are trimmed in slightly ruffled, yellow margins. There is a trace of a white line that develops between the two colors as the season progresses; summer heat is needed for the white line to develop. Late summer through fall, the clump is topped by near white flowers that rise on tall scapes. Because ‘Seducer’ has large leaves its coloration is very distinct. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails. Plant this low care plant in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves. ‘Seducer' is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as specimen or edging plant. ‘Seducer' has an amazing assortment of colors in each leaf that intensifies in bright light; fairly sun tolerant but should be given dappled shade. * Heart shaped leaves * Easy to grow * Large plant |
