Holly - Dwarf Burford - Sale Price: $106.95 The Dwarf Holly 'Burford', Ilex cornuta 'Burfordii Nana', is a more compact and slower growing form of Burford, having the same characteristics, except the leaves are smaller. 'Dwarf Burford' is best used in the landscape, as a specimen, an accent plant, or as a wind break; often planted beneath windows, where its slow growth and shorter stature makes it attractive from indoors and out. In the spring this plant produces clusters of fragrant white flowers. Later in the summer berry-like fruits develop. The colorful red berry is very showy in the fall. The berries persist on the bush for a long time, or until the birds eat them. This plant needs regular watering; weekly, or more often in extreme heat. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.
