Rose of Sharon - Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon Blue Chiffon, Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue Chiffon™', is the latest addition to the Chiffon series from breeder Dr. Roderick Woods of England. The exquisite blue flowers have a lacy center of lighter lavender-blue petals that give it a semi-double appearance. The flower centers are accented with wine red color that streaks out from the veins of the petals. Hibiscus Blue Chiffon™ blooms profusely from July through September. Hibiscus Blue Chiffon provides some much needed color for the midsummer and fall garden design! Blue Chiffon is easy to grow in full sun and normal garden soils where this garden plant is sure to provide many years of enjoyment! It is an excellent flowering shrub that may be massed, planted in groups or used as a specimen; very tolerant of summer heat and humidity. Larger flowers may be obtained by pruning back hard to 2-3 buds in early spring. Your eyes will lock in place when you look at this flower! It will be hard to look away!

The Peking Cotoneaster is best used as a hedge, or in groupings. This shrub displays yellow to red fall foliage and performs best in moist, well-drained soils. This shrub does well in partial shade to full sun light. Cotoneaster may be appreciated more for its dark green foliage than its blossoms. The small flowers are white to pinkish. Three-eighths inch black berries ripen in September and persist through mid-winter and are appreciated by some song birds such as the Robin and Catbird. Cotoneaster provides cover for numerous song and game birds. Songbirds such as robins eat the fruit. Use this plant in the landscape for hedges, screens, and groupings.
