Its leaves are split into smaller leaflets; each leaflet is dark green with teeth, up to 2.5 long. These leaves turn purplish red in the fall. Lucida Rose is a great plant to use for clearings, shores, and roadsides. It also excels in mixed borders, hedges, and as specimens. Lucida is tolerant of harsh conditions, including salt spray, wind, and poor soil. Sir Thomas Lipton features fragrant, semi-double to double, pure white flowers (to 2.5 diameter) which bloom in June, with an intermittent, but respectable, repeat bloom throughout the summer. It features leathery, dark green foliage. Rugosa means wrinkled in reference to the appearance of the foliage. Sir Thomas Lipton is best grown in medium moisture, slightly acidic, well-drained garden loams in full sun to part shade. Best flowering and disease resistance generally occur in full sun, however.
