Its foliage is of heavy substance and is corrugated, making it slug resistant.  On a mature plant, the smooth, heart-shaped leaves form an upright mound 45” across.  'Lakeside Beach Captain' is topped in late spring with 20 scapes of near white flowers and is a dynamite specimen plant! 'Lakeside Beach Captain' is a low care perennial and is ideal for shady positions and is one of the most popular for landscapes.  It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.
