Viburnum - Lantana The Viburnum Lantana, Viburnum 'Lantana', is a vigorous, handsome, urban-tolerant large shrub with gray green, leathery leaves and profuse, creamy-white blossoms. It produces red berries in August that turn a bluish-black in fall. The fruit causes mild upsets when eaten unripe or in large quantities. It has an excellent mahogany fall color, and the foliage is retained late into the season. An easily grown plant, Lantana prefers well-drained soil, can grow in heavy clay soil, and takes shaded areas well. This small tree grows best in alkaline soils. Thriving in woodland and woodland edges, ‘Lantana’ is multi-stemmed with stout branches; shape is rounded, branching, upright, and spreading. ‘Lantana’ is drought tolerant and is mainly grown as an ornamental plant for its flowers and berries. * Berries for wildlife * Fall color * Urban tolerant
