Yarrow - Red Velvet
The Yarrow Red Velvet, Achillea millefolium 'Red Velvet' , is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial with stunning deep, wine red, non-fading, four inch flower heads. These striking red flowers appear on deep green lacy foliage from mid-summer to early autumn. If you cut or deadhead the blooms promptly, it will rebloom for weeks! Prune Red Velvet to the ground level and add a nice dose of manure each winter to enhance foliage growth. This yarrow benefits from a layer of mulch to retain soil moisture, but does grow under poorer conditions since it is drought tolerant. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring. Remove faded flowers to encourage more growth and divide every 3-4 years. For an attraction to butterflies, deer and rabbit resistant, one can’t go wrong with this plant. This bright red colored yarrow will put on a very colorful show when planted in mass plantings; also use, in containers, as a landscape specimen or in borders. * Drought Tolerant * Long Bloom Period

It is an excellent choice as a highlight plant for a shade or water garden. Since Carex Bowles Golden is a moisture loving grass, and will grow in shallow water, it looks great around a pond with blue hostas. Dianthus - Fire and Ice - DetailsDianthus - Fire and Ice - Sale Price: $39.95
Dianthus Fire and Ice, Dianthus 'Fire and Ice', displays a rich, deep pink raspberry color.  It is a stunning and fragrant 1-1½ flower that is splashed with light pink dots and trimmed with nearly smooth cool white picotee edging. ‘Fire and Ice’ is unlike some dianthus in that it has nearly smooth edged petals.  It offers a profusion of flowers with a lovely sweet fragrance that will attract butterflies! The grey-green foliage of this dianthus, and its rounded compact habit, make it a fabulous plant for borders, in mass, or containers.  Add a layer of mulch to protect the evergreen foliage in colder climates, but once the weather becomes warmer, remove the mulch. This will prevent root rot. ‘Fire and Ice’ needs a sunny site with well-drained soil, but will tolerate some shade in the afternoon along with humidity.  Regular watering during prolonged dry spells will be necessary.  However, this plant is tolerant of short periods of dryness. The charming flowers look wonderful as a border plant, rock gardens, along walks or paths, for edging and a definite in cottage gardens. ‘Fire and Ice’ provides showers of cheerful raspberry colored flowers that are dappled in pink.  You can enjoy them in early spring, and again in early fall! * Easy to grow * Hardy * Drought tolerant

Clematis - Mayleen - DetailsClematis - Mayleen - Sale Price: $42.75
Clematis Mayleen, Clematis Montana 'Mayleen', is a charming beauty that displays small satin pink flowers in early summer. These satin pink blooms with gold stamens, have a rich vanilla perfume - strongest scented of the C. Montana’s.  This clematis is the earliest to bloom, with the buds coming from the previous season's stems. It is a deciduous climber, with dark green, bronze-flushed leaves.   It is a vigorous growing cultivar, but not as cold hardy as large flowering hybrids. Clematis Montana 'Mayleen' needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Groom this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems. Clematis ‘Mayleen’ is a very reliable performer once established; it takes a season or two to get going! ‘Mayleen’ has attractive foliage that creates an all season appeal for that special place in your garden! * Fragrant * Satin pink flowers * Vigorous
