Blackberry - Darrow
If you’ve ever picked and eaten wild blackberries, you know there’s nothing like their intense, deep, true blackberry flavor and aroma. The problem with wild blackberries is that they’re susceptible to rust and blight, and the fruits are often tiny, not to mention that you have to go find them. Start an easy-to-grow berry patch of your own with several ‘Darrow’ plants, and every summer (and often again in early fall) you’ll harvest huge, delectable berries with that same wild-picked taste, but minus the problems. This blackberry is hardy to zone 5, is ultra-vigorous and also self-pollinating. Choose a sunny, well-drained spot for your patch and amend the soil with compost. Keep ‘Darrow’ watered during dry spells, mulch well and prune regularly, and it will produce in top form for many years. Make indescribably delicious cobblers, crisps, pies, jam, jelly, syrup, liqueurs and wine at a fraction of the cost of store-bought berries. The antioxidant health benefits alone are reason enough to plant these beauties! Zones 5-8.

Quince - Spreading - DetailsQuince - Spreading - Sale Price: $57.05
Quince - Spreading, Chaenomeles japonica, is an adaptable, easy to grow deciduous thornless shrub that does best in full sun. Also referred to as the Japanese Flowering Quince, this shrub is tolerant of dry soils, and periodic pruning improves bloom. This sprawling plant has crowded gnarled branches and a low crooked habit. Old canes and suckers can be removed every year. The Spreading Quince needs ample room to ramble, so make sure other plants are not nearby that will be affected by its spreading habit. It has dark green foliage and pink to white flowers that appear in late spring or early summer. The leaves are untoothed, dark green above, and pale with a dense felt of grey wool beneath (especially when young). They turn a rich yellow in autumn. The fruits are light golden-yellow, green or orange, usually pear shaped, but sometimes round and apple-shaped. A quince is delicious stewed, baked, made into fruit butter and should not be eaten raw-- almost anything that can be done with apples can be done with quinces!

Heather - Lady in White - DetailsHeather - Lady in White - Sale Price: $51.35
Heather - Lady in White, Calluna vulgaris 'Lady in White', is a summer flowering budblooming heather that is upright and branching. The Lady in White offers a profusion of lovely bright pink-rose blooms from late August until November! Attracting butterflies and hummingbirds, Lady in White has lovely fragrant flowers that look outstanding in borders, as groundcovers, in containers, or in rock gardens. Callunas grow and flower best in full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Good drainage is very important since they are liable to get root diseases if growing in wet spots. Prune by cutting branches below the flowers in fall or in early spring in colder zones. It requires full sun and acid loving fertile well drained soil that is humus rich. Lady in White is a budbloomer which means that it is a form of Calluna in which the flowers never develop beyond the bud stage, but as a result, keep their color for a long period. Zones 5-7 * Late Summer Bloomer!

Viburnum - Mohican - DetailsViburnum - Mohican - Sale Price: $57.05
The Viburnum 'Mohican', Viburnum lantana 'Mohican', is an incredibly tough shrub that is essentially evergreen in warmer climates. The creamy white, flat topped flowers entirely envelop the plant in late April or May. This viburnum has one of the most effective displays of bright, orange-red fruit in early July, lasting a month before turning black in fall. It has dark, hairy leaves that create a dark background to showcase other plants.  It displays a very compact growth habit. Mohican needs regular, weekly watering, or more often in extreme heat. The Mohican makes a nice hedge with the compact shape and heavy, dark green foliage.  The fall color is attractive. * Bright fruit * Fall color

Sumac - Rocky Mountain - DetailsSumac - Rocky Mountain - Sale Price: $92.75
The Rocky Mountain Sumac, Rhus glabra cismontana 'Rocky Mountain', is a suckering, thicket-forming plant with small upright tree-like branches. On female plants, yellow-green flowers are followed by bright-red, hairy berries in erect, pyramidal clusters which persist throughout winter. It can be used as a “specimen thicket” in industrial landscapes and is quite valuable for adding a tropical, lush look to a xeric garden. In a planned landscape, the species is most effective when drifts or colonies, typical of natural settings, are allowed to establish. The colonies can be rejuvenated every few years by cutting them to the ground in mid-winter. 'Rocky Mountain' Sumac will grow in dry waste areas, such as impossible slopes where even junipers struggle. It is fast growing, generally pest and disease-free, and drought-tolerant.
