Clematis - Empress
Clematis - Empress Clematis Empress, Clematis 'Empress™', is a charming clematis that will impress with a profusion of radiant pink blooms that have a frilly pompon top! Clematis 'Empress' produces large double flowers that have pink petals with darker pink center bars. The inner petals sprout spiky pink hair and the plant blooms from May through June and into fall in most climates. 'Empress™ is a spectacular compact, free-flowering plant that displays well in containers or small gardens. Clematis 'Empress™' needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Groom this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems. Clematis 'Empress™' is a very reliable performer once established; it takes a season or two to get going! * Container clematis * Large double flowers * Long blooming

Yarrow - Paprika - Sale Price: $64.25 The Yarrow ‘Paprika’, Achillea millefolium, is an upright gold centered, fading to light pink & creamy yellow, Yarrow that blooms from June through September. With fern-like aromatic silvery to gray-green foliage, it is considered to be one of the best yarrows in any landscape. The foliage has a somewhat strong, spicy aroma, which persists when used in dried arrangements. The flower heads are 3-4” wide, with a spread of 18-24” and a height of 24”. This Yarrow does well in average garden soils, but prefers lean, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil. (Avoid heavy clays and moist, rich, fertile soils.) Yarrow should be planted in full sun and is tolerant to hot humid summers. ‘Paprika’ is excellent for cutting, fresh or dried. Remove faded flowers regularly to promote continued blooming. Inclined to spread, so site this carefully or plan to reduce the clumps each spring. For an attraction to butterflies, deer and rabbit resistant, one can’t go wrong with this plant. |
Hosta - Celestial - Sale Price: $42.75 Hosta Celestial, Hosta 'Celestial', is a large plant that has deeply corrugated, rounded leaves that measure 12-15 long! 'Celestial' has dark green leaves with a greenish yellow color swept across the margins, and then brightens to a creamy white in the summer. In midsummer, pale lavender flowers are produced on 33” to 36” scapes. This new variety is considered by some hosta experts to be an improvement over ‘Northern Halo' and other white edged sieboldiana types. This cream-edged, low care perennial is ideal for shady positions. It is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as specimen or edging plant. 'Celestial' needs high-filtered or dappled sunlight for clean, healthy growth. Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas! Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. This hosta offers attractive corrugated green leaves with a wide cream border! * Low maintenance * Tall scapes * Large cream-edged leaves
Tiarella - Pink Skyrocket Foam Flower - Sale Price: $42.75 Tiarella Pink Skyrocket, Tiarella 'Pink Skyrocket' (PP#13,382), displays pink flowers that look like little rockets blasting off from the marvelously cut and marked foliage! A very easy to grow perennial that combines well with other shade loving plants like Heuchera 'Obsidian'. Pink Skyrocket cut flowers make wonderfully fragrant bouquets! This plant is an excellent choice for edging in moist, shaded areas and it is evergreen in mild winter regions. 'Pink Skyrocket' will do best in full shade and needs average to moist soil. Try planting this popular perennial with Lamium ‘White Nancy’, Hosta ‘Patriot’ or ‘Japanese Painted Fern’ for color contrasts. To create a more neat appearing plant, remove the old foliage before new leaves emerge. The plant clumps can be divided every 2 or 3 years in the spring. It can be planted as a ground cover or mingled with other shade loving plants. Foamflowers are close cousins to the coral bells, with similar sprays of flowers over a low clump of foliage. * Attracts Butterflies * Evergreen in warmer climates * Container plantings
Lavender - Hidcote - Sale Price: $32.95 The Lavender 'Hidcote', Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote', is a dwarf variety that is a compact grower and reaches 18-24 inches tall. It produces fragrant spikes of dark purple flowers in summer. These flowers produce the purest lavender scent! Being drought tolerant, it is ideal as a short perennial shrub border or as an herb in a kitchen garden. Lavender was selected in 1999 as the International Herb Association Plant of the Year! This plant is great for hedges and edging because 'Hidcote' has a more erect and compact habit. It boasts 2½-inch, linear, downy leaves on strong stems. The leaves open white, then turn a pale gray-blue-green color. This Lavender grows in a well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in an open, sunny spot. For better drainage, add sand in the hole when first planting this lavender. Trim back in spring to encourage bushier growth; also deadhead after flowering. The sweetest scent of all lavender, it is also the most cold hardy, and it should be pruned back the first year. If you want dried flowers, pick when showing color but before fully open; tie in bunches and hang in a cool, airy place. One of the most famous of all herbs, 'Hidcote' is used most often in sachets in the home and for perfumes! * Dwarf * Cold hardy * Pale gray, blue-green foliage
Verbena - Homestead Purple - Sale Price: $56.95 The Verbena Homestead Purple, 'Verbena canadensis 'Homestead Purple', produces deep purple, velvety flowers that dance above this vigorous groundcover type selection for a spectacular show all summer. The leaves are deep green, coarse-textured and up to 4 inches long. This plant matures at 1 foot tall and 3 feet wide. Homestead Purple is a nice compact plant with a bushy growth habit. If the plant gets a little spindly with some leggy-looking growth, pinch back the leggy growth to encourage bushiness. It is ideal for borders, hanging baskets, rock gardens and retaining walls. Homestead Purple should be placed in full sun in a well-drained soil. Like most fast growing perennials, it responds well to good soil preparation and occasional fertilization. Use this plant in containers or as a long-blooming groundcover. This plant is very useful at the base of taller summer annuals and perennials. Purple, Purple, Purple!
