The silvery-rose flower plumes that resemble foxtails are borne July through September; turns pinkish brown in the fall. Being drought tolerant, it is a Midwest favorite. The cascading, narrow leaves on this plant have a fountain shape. Fountain grass maintains its lovely leaves and flowers through January. Spread a layer of mulch or other organic material 2 to 3 inches deep around the entire plant. Water well, once a week in dry summers. By the third year 'Twilite Prairieblues™' PPAF produces almost 100 flower spikes of unique deep pea-like violet-purple flowers, highlighted by a dramatic lemon-yellow keel.  Held above the handsome blue-green foliage, the inflorescences can be up to 32 inches long!  When 'Twilite Prairieblues™' is not in bloom, this plant remains attractive because of the lovely blue-green colored leaves it displays, especially throughout the spring season!
