Echinacea Tomato Soup (Coneflower), Echinacea 'Tomato Soup', is the brightest red Echinacea yet and quite the attention-grabber; blooms are 3.5” across and have a strong spicy fragrance. Because 'Tomato Soup' is well-branch and vigorous, it produces more blooms than others and offers many new possibilities for garden combinations! It is a long lasting flower that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and is great in cut flower arrangements!  The bright, red intense flowers are supported on strong stems; best if grouped or massed. This Echinacea will present a season full of red daisy-like flowers and is praised for its prolonged blooming after other perennials have faded. Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (about every 4 years.  'Tomato Soup' usually reblooms without deadheading, but if spent flowers are removed, this procedure will encourage continued beautiful blooms and improves general appearance.  This plant is deer resistant. If you leave some spent blooms on the plants in fall their seeds provide winter food for birds.  You can enjoy the dried seed heads as well, because they will provide architectural interest in the winter. Hosta Lakeside Beach Captain, Hosta 'Lakeside Beach Captain', is a sport of Hosta 'Lakeside Shore Master' with very narrow chartreuse leaf centers.  The large, blue-green leaves are of heavy substance and are corrugated. The Hemerocallis ‘Pardon Me’, also known as a Daylily, has a very fragrant, small cranberry-wine, almost red flower, with a yellow throat, and a flower size of 3”.  It has dark green foliage and will reach a height of 18” and a plant spread of 23-29”. ‘Pardon Me’ will bloom from May through July, with outstanding color and a definite rebloomer.  This plant prefers a full sun area that is well-drained. The Hibiscus 'Blue River II', Hibiscus moscheutos, is the first true, original, large, pure white flowering Hibiscus and should not be missed! It has a plant height of 4-5' and wonderful 10 dinner plate-sized, 5-petaled, hollyhock-like flowers blooms.  Individual flowers are very short-lived (usually one day), but one or more flowers usually open each day, and this continues in succession from midsummer to early fall! It does best in moist, organically rich soils, but does surprisingly well in average garden soils; do not allowed to dry out.  Plant 'Blue River II' in locations protected from wind to minimize risk of wind burn. If you deadhead individual flowers this will maintain a neat and colorful plant appearance. New growth shoots are slow to emerge in spring, however, once new growth begins, it proceeds quite rapidly; provide regular fertilization during this growing season.
