False Cypress - Compact Hinoki, Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Compacta', makes an excellent accent or specimen plant in a shaded area. This Chamaecyparis is very easy to keep and grow and needs little or no maintenance with regards to trimming, pruning, or shaping. So if you are in the mood for something just a little out of the ordinary, take a moment to check out Compacta. You just might find that certain something you've been searching for! Compacta prefers shadier spots, has a nice growth, and its color is rich and dark, like the very best of Hinokis. Because this variety is semi-dwarf, it is an excellent choice where other Hinokis would be too large. 'Compacta' also has the advantage of looking like a mature specimen with a dwarf-like form. It does not develop any appreciable fall color.
