Grass - Gold Bar Maiden
Gold Bar Maiden Grass, Miscanthus sinensis 'Joy Creek Selection #1' (PP#15,193), is truly a show-stopper and a sensational variety with its heavily banded gold stripes, from the base of the grass to its top. The horizontal markings are much closer together than other banded miscanthus and they give 'Gold Bar' a dramatic look. Its exceptionally upright and compact habit makes this new grass perfect for large containers or in small urban gardens. Burgundy inflorescences appear just above the foliage in mid fall. 'Gold Bar' is a slower, but good grower, eventually reaching 5' tall in eight years. Miscanthus is unrivalled in the diversity and beauty of its flowers, foliage, autumn colors and winter presence. It is extraordinarily adaptable to many conditions and purposes in the garden. Use it alone as a specimen, in the mid to back border or to create a living fence or screen. It is easy to grow, and its intense color almost glows in the sun! 4 Season Interest!

Violet - Purple Showers - DetailsViolet - Purple Showers - Sale Price: $42.75
Violet Purple Showers, Viola 'Purple Showers', is very appropriately named! The large 2 electric purple flowers will shower your landscape nearly all spring and summer! 'Purple Showers' blooms profusely in spring and then continues with sporadic flowering until fall. The 8 flower stems rise nicely above the foliage and make excellent cut flowers. Violets grow best in cool, moist, shady environments. In the north, plants can tolerate full sun but prefer partial to full shade. Shade from deciduous trees is ideal because the plants growing below receive full sun in the spring, followed by protection from the harsh summer sun once the trees get their leaves. If plants are cut back after the first bloom cycle, they will likely bloom again in the fall. Deadheading spent flowers will prolong the blooming season and promote a new flush of growth. Use this plant as a groundcover or as an edge. It also makes a great container plant! Enjoy the dancing blooms atop the low mounds of glossy green, heart-shaped leaves!

Hosta - Silver Bay - DetailsHosta - Silver Bay - Sale Price: $39.95
Hosta Silver Bay, Hosta 'Silver Bay', is one of the best new blue hostas on the market, and one of the most talked about hostas in recent years!   The heart-shaped, intense, silver blue leaves form an attractive mound.  The leaves are also thick and heavily corrugated.  Pale lavender flowers top the mound in mid-late summer.  'Silver Bay' is a real winner! Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.  Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.  It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.  Plant this low care plant in an area that receives the right amount of light.  The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves.  'Silver Bay' is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as specimen or edging plant. 'Silver Bay' has a great spread of 2-3 feet, filling in your shaded space very nicely; a special plant that should be planted in a very special place! * Blue hosta * Easy to grow * Mounding habit
