The Hosta ‘Royal Standard’ is a vigorous, large Hosta with dark green leaves, making this variety very striking. The light lavender fragrant flowers bloom from July to August, however, Hosta’s are not known only for their flowers. With a plant height of 18” and a spread of 36-48”, Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage. Hosta ‘Royal Standard’ needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained area. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular for landscape uses. A great choice for any beginner gardener.

The Dianthus ‘Firewitch’, Dianthus gratianopolitanus, is a beautiful pink flower that can be somewhat lacy and fringed.  With its grassy blue-gray foliage and profuse blooming time, ‘Firewitch’ is one not to miss! The Astilbe ‘Rheinland’, Astilbe japonica, has striking tall, feathery blooms of clear pink that rise above the foliage, adding a light, airy quality.  It has mid green foliage, changing to green in the spring.  The flowers contrast wonderfully with the glossy foliage. Hosta Maui Buttercups, Hosta 'Maui Buttercups', is one of the best yellow hostas on the market! The bright, rounded leaves are deeply cupped and corrugated. They have a thick, leathery substance and demonstrate good slug resistance. 'Maui Buttercups' is a nice medium sized hosta that brightens the shade garden, and one of the very best yellow Hostas.  It has flared, medium violet flowers that appear on 18 scapes in midsummer. Clematis Duchess of Albany, Clematis texensis 'Duchess of Albany', is a vigorous grower with 2 wide tulip-like flowers. The unique flowers have pink petals with darker pink center bars. Grow ‘Duchess of Albany’ where the delicate blooms can be admired at close range, such as over a low shrub by a pathway, or in a trellised patio container. It is a modest grower compared to the large-flowering types, yet its height is dependent on the structure it climbs! Clematis Duchess of Albany needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread.  Duchess of Albany is one of the most heat tolerant clematis. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Groom this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems.
