Cedar - Fastigiata - Sale Price: $56.95 The Cedar Fastigiata, Cedrus atlantica 'Fastigiata', is an upright formed evergreen conifer with blue-green needles.  It is a narrow, columnar selection with a mature width of only 10'.  With this interesting and picturesque habit, it works well as a specimen or lawn tree.  In optimum conditions, this pyramidal tree can reach up to 40’ tall and 10' wide.  Placed in a good site, this can tree can grow up to 2 feet a year! This cedar prefers moist, deep soils, but is tolerant of dry, sandy soils and does best in full sun.  Fastigiata is tolerant of pollution and urban conditions so makes a great tree for city parks. It may get considerable needle burn and injury during cold winters or when sited poorly in windy locations.  Severely winter burned trees generally recover well if established. Showy Mountain Ash - Sale Price: $121.35  Small Deciduous Tree with Ornamental Features The Showy Mountain Ash is a small, understory tree with ornamental features. Plant one as a specimen tree in your front yard, or use one as a small shade tree. Your Showy Mountain Ash is just that—showy! It grows to 30 feet in height with a 25 foot spread, and has an open, rounded crown. The leaves have a lovely, tropical appearance. The dark green leaves have grey green undersides which playfully flutter in the sunlight as it catches the contrasting shades. Spring brings six inch flat clusters of ¼-inch, five petaled flowers. The delicate, white blooms stand out like tiny white bridal bouquets amid the tree’s branches. Chinese Chestnut - Sale Price: $78.50 The Chinese Chestnut is currently planted as a replacement for the American Chestnut, which was obliterated by blight in the 1900s. Most store-shelf chestnuts usually come from Spain, but the Spanish Chestnut tree is not at all cold-hardy and can be vulnerable to blight as well. The Chinese Chestnut serves both as an ornamental dark-green shade tree and as a less-risky nut producer, providing its caretaker with pounds of sweet chestnuts to roast, puree, boil and even make gluten-free flour out of. This all-purpose deciduous tree is blight-resistant and prefers moist, acidic, well-drained soils in full sun, but can manage in dry soils of varying pH; hot, arid climates are OK as well.
