Grootendorst', displays clusters of small crimson flowers with frilled edges and they have spicy fragrance. These cute red flowers resemble fringed red carnations. It has crinkly, bright green foliage on a bushy, vigorous, upright shrub and blooms from June until frost. It will grow to about 2 1/2’ if pruned back each spring. F. J. Grootendorst is very thorny like most rugosas and is a repeat bloomer. Rugosa roses are very tolerant of harsh conditions. They can tolerate wind, poor soil and salt spray.
