Russian Sage
Russian Sage The Russian Sage, Perovskia atriplicifolia, is a deciduous semi-woody sub shrub with upright, grayish white stems and lobed, silvery gray leaves. The older stems are woody at the base, and younger stems are herbaceous and square in cross section. The stems and leaves give off a pungent odor when crushed or bruised. In late summer and autumn Russian sage produces 12 inch spires of small, tubular lavender flowers. A genus in the Mint family, this semi-woody perennial carries a cloud of these small lavender flowers on widely arching stems, and is an exceptionally long-blooming perennial. Russian Sage plants are vigorous and very hardy, ignoring heat, drought, and pests, while always looking fresh. Marvelous companions for this sage are Phlox of every hue, Black-eyed Susan, Sedum, and ornamental grasses. * Hardy * Vigorous grower * Aromatic Russian Sage User Comments:There are currently 0 comments for Russian Sage |
