The Cole's Select Serviceberry, Amelandhier 'Cole's Select', is an excellent large shrub with a spreading form and is grown for its fall coloration. It is covered with white flowers in the early spring prior to leafing out.  'Cole's Select’ displays new foliage that is often silvery or reddish, turning green as it matures. The edible, blue-black fruit ripens in midsummer and is readily eaten by birds as it matures. It adapts well to the climatic conditions of the upper mid west. 'Cole's Select' requires a well drained soil and can be pruned into a single or multi-trunked tree form. You can enjoy the foliage in the fall as it turns an excellent yellow-orange to a red-purple color! * Excellent color * Adaptable * Berries for wildlife

The Many-Flowered Cotoneaster, Contoneaster multiflorus, produces small white flowers in spring (fragrance unpleasant), bright red fruit in autumn, and leaves turn a yellow fall color. The flowers have five petals and sepals and are usually borne in clusters. Many-flowered Cotoneaster is one of the few cotoneasters useful for its flowers. Many-Flowered Cotoneaster flowers bloom in early spring, and the fruit ripens in September through October. This upright shrub has a fountain-like weeping branch habit and prefers a moist, well-drained soil; tolerates alkaline soil. Cotoneasters are widely cultivated for their attractive growth habit, small white to pink flowers, and small but showy red to black fruit. The shrub can be used as a hedge, bank cover, in groupings, or planted in a mass.

The Dappled Willow, Salix Integra 'Hakuro-Nishiki', also known as Variegated Willow, is a small shrub that produces leaves that are variegated when they are young. The young branches grow out of the crown in all directions and will begin drooping slightly. This plant displays good winter interest with coral and red stems that contrasts with the landscape. Like all Willows, it thrives in moist soils. Prune in early spring to promote its elegant display and prune to promote variegated foliage. The Dappled Willow is a superb accent plant and it will be a focal point in beds and borders. The Variegated Willow is also used for foundation plantings, alongside water features and natural areas. Good in containers, also.

Microbiota (Siberian Cypress) Celtic Pride, Microbiota decussata 'Celtic Pride', is a charming, but hardy, low growing evergreen for sun or shade. If you are looking for a small evergreen with all season color, this is the plant for you! Celtic Pride has excellent disease resistance with year-round color and texture; green foliage turns an attractive reddish brown color in winter. This cold-hardy plant prefers well drained, moist soil. It may be trimmed to shape in spring, but pruning is seldom needed. Celtic Pride is great for foundation plantings or in the mixed border and is deer resistant plant!

The Hydrangea 'Late Panicle', Hydrangea paniculata 'Tardiva', this shrub has white airy flowers that can reach 10-12 in length in late August. The flowers are a mixture of sterile and fertile flowers which gives the flowers less density and less likelihood to tip or droop. Flowers will turn bronze in fall. The flower heads will stay on the plant during much of the winter if conditions are not severe.  These shrubs are fast growing and are great for informal     screens, specimen plants, or for cut arrangements. Cut the flower heads when they are fully open and hang to dry in a warm, airy place. You may prune every year in the fall after blooming, no more than 1/3 of the plant. These plants look best when they are kept pruned to keep them thick at the base. They are hardy and will not need to be covered to flower. The Cardinal Red Osier Dogwood, Cornus sericea 'Cardinal', is a MNRC introduction. The Cardinal Red Osier Dogwood was selected for its bright red winter twig color. Cardinal Red is best grown in organically rich, medium wet to wet soils in full sun to part shade but tolerates a wide range of soils, including swampy or boggy conditions. This plant is a hybrid Dogwood that was developed by the University of Minnesota in 1986. It was an NC-7 Trials top-performing plant and it received the 2004 Plant of Merit. Tiny white flowers appear in flat-topped clusters in late spring. Flowers give way to clusters of creamy white fruit in late summer. Fruit is very attractive to birds and is generally considered to have as much if not more ornamental interest than the flowers. The dark green leaves turn an attractive red-purple in autumn. * Superb plant for wet areas! * Attracts Wildlife!
