Dogwood - Red Twigged - Sale Price: $54.25 Whether you call it a Redtwig, Redstem, Redosier or Red Osier, this stunning dogwood’s red winter bark just make the winter a lot less dreary. It is perfect for a shady spot, near a tree line or on the north side of a house, but will do equally well in full sun as a hedge or in a group. Needs attentive watering; leaves can wilt in very hot sun, which may be mistaken for thirstiness. The red-twigged dogwood offers interest year-‘round: milky white flowers in spring, then soothing green foliage in spring and summer, cabernet-wine colored leaves in fall, and its signature deep red bark in winter. In early spring, cut the shrub back to four to six inches from the ground to ensure a perennial show of red stems over the coming winters.
