Spirea - Gumball Gumball Spirea, spiraea x bumalda 'Gumball', is a compact plant that displays attractive hot pink flowers in May-June. These flowers are complimented by the new growth of leaves that emerge purplish, then turn a bluish-green in spring and summer. In the fall the leaves turn brilliant shades of burgundy, orange and yellow! A nice sized compact shrub, it grows 2' high to 4' wide which makes it a good low shrub border. ‘Gumball’ is ideal for small spaces. This spirea will thrive in most locations and should be pruned after flowering and in early spring. It prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained soil. Transplant from its container for best results. It is great for group or mass plantings, borders, or for foundation plant.
